The Great Smoky Mountains are black bear country, and apparently the local bears enjoy being entertained by humans who are visiting their home! Perfect for families with children, arrive early to enjoy a leisurely meal, a lighthearted and uplifting performance, and leave with a smile. So what exactly happens at Black Bear Jamboree?
The sounds of rushing water and woodland birdsong greet you as you enter the lobby “forest” of the theater. Live music spills from the auditorium, and a friendly server greets you with a pleasant smile upon being seated at your table in the dinner theater.
A hearty meal begins with warm rolls and creamy soup, and includes ribs and chicken, a variety of vegetables, and a signature dessert. Both children’s and vegetarian meals are also available upon request.
The backstory of the show lands a group of campers visiting the Smoky Mountains in the tough position of having to entertain the local bears. Lifelike, animatronic bears enliven the story with both a sweet bear family, and also a tough trio hungry for the contents of the camper backpacks.
The group of “campers” is quite a talented cast, highlighted humorously by a comical nerd and musically by a live instrumental band. A high energy musical review ensues, which easily appeals to all ages. Multiple costume changes, evolving scenery, and synchronized choreography assure ongoing interest in this fast-paced show of various musical styles.
From the bright light glitter of favorite Broadway showtunes through a nostalgic oldies memory trip, the singing and dancing cast displays continuous energy throughout. Don’t let the kids overlook the dancing bears that join in for “Bearfootin’”!
You are then transported to a nighttime concert in the woods, for an uptempo,
country music good time. Then onto a stained glass gospel song and a patriotic tribute finale! Truly, this musical review is pleasing visually and pleasant listening: like surfing through all your old favorites on your ipod.
Sister attractions at the Comedy Barn Theater, The Miracle Theater, the Blackwood Quartet and Triumphant Quartet performances are also available at multi-show combination discounts. Ask for the best cost option to suit your family’s needs when selecting your tickets for all of these theater attractions.
Before you depart, don’t miss browsing through the wide array of “bear-aphanalia” available for purchase after the show. You can even donate toward protecting real bears in their local mountain habitat.
